With spring here, many Vail Valley residents are beginning to bike, hike, and be outdoors as much as possible.  Some people look for hydration in sports drinks such as Gatorade and PowerAde.   Many of these drinks contain as much sugar and acid as soda and prolonged use can deteriorate the enamel of one’s teeth.  It is important to rinse with water after drinking sport’s drinks.  Also, try and consume the drink in one sitting rather than sipping on them throughout the day.  Do not brush teeth for 30 minutes after the consumption of these drinks, as the acid will be brushed against the enamel and erode it.
